Small steps, real Dutch

In Build the sentence, describe every numbered step of the marked line and listen to your Dutch. In Draw the route, read or listen to the full sentence and connect the dots yourself. Every walk starts with the player facing up, so the first left and right match the screen. After a turn, follow the player’s new heading.

The four moves

Ga rechtdoor.: Go straight ahead to the next dot. Keep facing the same way.
Ga linksaf.: Turn left and move to the next dot in that direction.
Ga rechtsaf.: Turn right and move to the next dot in that direction.
Steek de straat over.: Cross the street at a zebra crossing. Face it first; stay facing the same way. Use the crossing in column B or D, between rows 2 and 3.

Join the steps into a sentence

Ga eerst rechtdoor, ga dan linksaf en ga daarna rechtsaf.

First go straight ahead, then turn left and then turn right.

Ga rechtdoor en steek daarna de straat over.

Go straight ahead and then cross the street.

Put eerst, dan or daarna after ga or steek. Use en to join instructions. Both dan and daarna work for a later step.

How this little map works: each instruction moves between two dots. A turn includes the move; it does not turn in place. To approach a crossing, walk toward it along column B or D. Drag through neighboring dots, or tap them one at a time. Tap the previous dot or use Undo to erase the last segment. Buildings and the canal are scenery. The gold ring is your destination. In Draw the route, the finish can be any dot and only appears after you check. Reset walk restarts the same walk and hides the finish again. Start new walk gives you a fresh challenge at any time.
